alright so I know for a FACT that since I'm in this topic any responses are going to be biased but I'll ask anyways.

I'm graduating in a month *WHOOT!* and I have two thoughts on what to do next year... I can go to college for computer science OR I can get an apprenticeship to be a tattoo artist.

Now before you make any quick judgements, I've been studying fine arts in my art institute for all of highschool, and tattooing is really the only thing I could see myself doing in the fine arts field.

So what do you guys think?

you know, its great you like tattooing, maybe you can do both, go into tattooing a tattooing apprenticeship, while studying computer stuff, most things you can just get a certification for (hopefully i will get at the end of next month, Linux+ W00 lol)

i mean if one thing doesn't work out, there ya go, you have something to fall back on

*** maybe you should give me my second tattoo lol

always best to keep your options open
its very rare that someone only sticks to one thing in todays work environment
as the other poster says nothing to stop you doing both and see how you get on
good luck whatever your decision

If you actually have an opportunity to apprentice for tattooing and that's not just a "plan", I would go for both. You can tattoo your way through college and end up with a degree, an apprenticeship, a portfolio for both areas and lots of job experience.

If you don't, you'll probably be kicking yourself for the rest of your life.
