No sound in Firefox with Rhythmbox open

If I play a track in rhythmbox, pause it and try to play a video on youtube I get no sound on the video. If I then close both rhythmbox and firefox (or epiphany) then reopen firefox, the video or any other flash media will play WITH sound. Is there an easy fix?

I'm semi sure I need to change the sound engine away from alsa or to alsa or something like that as that seems to be what gives people sound issues on their machines, but a little help would be greatly appreciated.
