problem with lines appearing on videos and programs

I have problem with annoying lines appearing on videos and programs
and i don't know what to do.I have tried to reinstall the
graphic cards drivers but nothing changed.(I have an ATI radeon 1800)

Does the problem replicate with other OS's? If so get a replacement card.

try disabiling compiz fusion (i had a problem with flickery screen in google earth... fixed by disabling compiz :) )

what sort of lines are you talking about? do you have a screenshot?

Does it only happen in certain software / video types?

Im not an expert on such things so i cant promise to help, but more info would be useful :)

flickering black in videos ( tried lots of programs vlc,noatun etc.) and on google earth.

I installed ubuntu before one week so van you tell me how do I disable compiz?
