For some reason I can't record any audio on my computer. I'm not using a mic, I'm trying to record just what's coming out of my speakers (streaming, mp3, etc.). I've tried Sound Recorder and RecordMyDesktop. Neither one will capture the sounds.

First thought: did you make sure the right recording source was selected in both programs?

Yep, tried Default, Dev/Dsp, and HDA Intel as the input source

You could simply use an double end male 1/8" jack inputs, one gos in the headphone jack and on to the mic jack on the front your computer. Thus you can record just about anything coming threw your audio card like youtube movies anything. I use it to record ringtones for my cell phone.

Great idea! I just tried that and it works. I'll use that for the meantime but I'd still like to have a solid solution to the problem
