Hey guys just wondering how much time it should take for the channels to change in mythbuntu, im using a hauppauge nova-t 500 dual tuners and it takes me around 4-5 seconds to change channel, is this right?

I was watchin a video on youtube where this guy was changing channels almost instantly.

Thanks

Well if you are using some kind of cable-tv it can take some time with certain tuners. But if you are using "regular" tv signal its way too long with 4-5 sec.

I had a lot of problems running mythbuntu. Instead I installed ubuntu and manually myth-tv.

iirc there's an option in the configuration that says to switch channels immediately. Try browsing the config options, maybe you'll find it (not at my HTPC, so I can't tell you if and where for sure).

Free? Well Myth-TV is free also...Mythbuntu is just a release with Myth-TV installed by default.

The iirc config tip might help you out though.

with my pchdtv card not using mythbuntu , just using xine or movieplayer to watch it takes about 10 seconds to start seeing the new channel because it buffers several seconds of video before it starts playing , that may be adjustable to some extent .
