My wife's Apple iBook has crashed and won't boot OSX. I purchased it used, so rather than pop in the Apple hardware utility disc, I tried a Ubuntu Live CD (Dapper, the last ppc version).
The thing fired up better than some Xubuntu machines I have at work :). I assume the only way this is possible is if the iBook's hard drive is bad and everything else is okay. I'm looking for some hardware checking utilities in Dapper and I can't seem to find them. Any suggestions on utilities to look for before I start pricing hard drives?
