:confused: hi is my first time using linux os the one im using is ubuntu 8.4. i need help because i dont know anything about linux. one of my problemes is with my video card that is not active so i can not use the desktop effect. can some one help me out

Try on the menu: System/Administration/Hardware Drivers
There should be an NVidia driver available for download, that is not shipped with Ubuntu because is a propietary one.
I have a TX1000z, with NVidia's driver running smoothly.
