Network Problem

I am definitely a beginner. Running 7.10 for about 4 months and 8.04 for the last few weeks. All is good with 8.04 [64 bit] except every once in a while my wireless does not connect. All I need to do is re-enter the network password and sometimes it will then connect or other times I must re-boot as well. Any suggestions?

Also when I enter the password all it shows is large round dots as I enter in the password. [In my case 7 round dots.] I know this is normal security. Now when I go back to view the password all I see is about 30 rounds dots. Is this normal?
