First of all, hi. Im new to Ubuntu and specially new to Linux. So dont be harsh if i ask some dumb questions :)
I clicked download Ubuntu, clicked desktop edition then clicked on the 64-bit Amd and Intel computers (since i checked and my comp is running x86-64). I choosed location and when i was about to download i noticed something, computer Platform: amd64, but my comp is Intel, so my question is it "safe" to download it? Will it make any difference?
Hope you guys can help a newbie out. :) Thanks!

The AMD64 designation is because AMD was the first to market the 64bit technology that allows running 32bit and 64bit code. Modern 64bit Intel chips like the core 2 duo will work just fine.

My motherboard is by Asus, and my cpu is made by Intel. I have no problems with running the 64-bit Ubuntu.

If you are running either an AMD64 or an Intel EM64T capable processor like the Core 2 Duo, you can use the 64bit (amd64) image. To find out if you have an EM64T processor, you can look in the BIOS, along with other processor information.
That done, if you are new, as you claim, maybe you may get better mileage out of using 32bit. I have no real-life idea how well (or not) 64 bit ubuntu works, but the forums are filled with 64bit horror stories, which I think a newbie would be put off by.

Don't be put off by the "horror stories" that people say they see. I have used Hardy in 32 bit and 64 bit versions and the problems that have occurred have been solvable in both versions. The problems are more related to wireless and video card than to what version. Take advantage of the full capabilities of your processor and use 64 bit. The forums have solutions to any problems that occur. Hardy is by far the best version of Ubuntu and works "out of the box" for a larger number of computers than older versions of Ubuntu. Search the forums and find the answers.

As others have said you will be fine downloading the AMD 64 iso. Below I posted direct links to both the desktop, and alternate iso.
