I had to do a reinstall of gnome-panel and gnome-applets. Now I don't have the option for edition my menus. The "Main Menu" shortcut under System > Preferences is gone. Any ideas on how to get it back?

Right click on your menu and select "Edit Menu" and add it back to your preference pane.

I tried that, it's still not there.

Right click the Start Menu icon-->Edit Menus. If you also want a menu editor launcher under Preferences, then create one. New Item--> the command is 'alacarte' and name it whatever you want....unless I'm misunderstanding what you want...
