If my Ubuntu freezes up, what should I do? In Windows I would ordinarily press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, but nothing like that is effective in Ubuntu. What should be done?

CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE will restart X and return you to the login page. It works 99.9% of the time.
