Hello,

Trying to install mythbuntu 8.04 on an AMD 64Bit.
The CD boots, and I select the language.

I go to do the install (install Mythbuntu) but after the status bar loads to full, I get a black screen and nothing happens.

I also tryed using regular Ubuntu: same problem.

Video card: Geforce 4 MX 4000 if this is of any help.

Any hope of being able to set it up?

Thanks for your help.

Can you get to a terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1?

if you are simply trying to install and using the 'live CD', you may want to try the 'alternate' cd.

It's just a text based installer but shouldnt be too hard to follow. I've never tried Mythbuntu, but the Ubuntu alternate version has worked for me on systems when the Live CD fails.

Before you give up on the live-cd I would do as Temüjin says. See if it's actually hard locked or if you can get to a terminal with ctrl+alt+f1.

The LiveCD should also have something called "Safe Graphics Mode". Try that too.

Thanks for all your help.

Was able to install through the safe mode option listed above (in less then any previous installation!).

Having problem viewing but will post in a new thread.
