Screen resolution problems

Hello I recently updated from 7.10 to 8.04 and im having difficulties with screen resolution sizes, I cant choose anything bigger than 640x480. I have a nvidia graphix card and i have installed envyng and the nvidia control panel but neither of these let me choose a bigger size. Can anyone help me out please? Thanks.

you can try the hidden screens and graphics tool, what way did you upgrade?

Tried that and it didnt give me any bigger options. I upgraded through the update manager.

you may have to manually edit your xorg configuration and there I personally cannot help you, but this can let others know the information they need.
