Yuck. I almost want to go back to Firefox 2 but failing that how can I get rid of the absolutely dreadful behavior of the "new" address bar in Firefox where it shows Identity Information (I guess that's what it is)?

I want it to only show the address - not the extraneous stuff.

Thanks!

What are you talking about? I don't see any identity information in the "new address bar"...

Did you install an add-on?
If yes, then remove it.
Tools->Add-ons->Extensions->click yours->remove

If you are talking about history suggest, go to:
edit->Preferences->Privacy and uncheck everything with "remember"

What I am talking about is what shows in the attached image,

I have no add-ons except adblock. Prior to FF 3 only the actual URL showed when I pulled down history. Now there is this descriptor of the page as well. I don't want that as it is just more junk on the screen.

AFAIK there's no way to revert to the old behavior. However, you can emulate it by installing an add-on called oldbar.

I actually prefer the newer version. It helps when you have a load of really bizarre and long web addresses to see what the page title was :)

Just my $0.02

That'll do it, thanks!

Oldbar uses the Firefox 3 sorting order but uses the Firefox 2 display.

Hm, I like Firefox 3 display more. But that's just my 0.02 $
