Hi everyone,

I need a LAMP server and a home NAS, and I thought I might try to add Mythbuntu to the mix and experiment with it. Is it better to install Ubuntu Server first and then add Mythbuntu through the package manager, or the other way around? And if I go Ubuntu first, do I need to install the ubuntu-desktop before I can add Mythbuntu?

Looking at a clean install with 8.04.

My biggest concern is having the server properly configured for apache, samba, print sharing, security, etc. I'm hoping that the default server install will cover most of the bases. Otherwise, I spend hours reading HOWTOs and just try to make things work, instead of work securely.

If I get Mythbuntu working, it will primarily be as a backend. I'd hope to use a different client for actual TV viewing.

TIA
