Hi everybody.
I have a PC runing Hardy with a P4P800-X motherboard connected to a SMC7004VWBR router. My PC is runing Hardy Heron and whenever I start or shut it down my router becomes frozen and I have to restart it. I never had this problem with neither gutsy nor feisty, windows won't froze it neither.

What can I do? PLease.

It's more likely a failing router, google the model number and read some reviews.
My personal preference in the WRT54GL, the L is for Linux!

Well, yeah, I know it isn't the best router but for years I had debian, windows and several versions of ubuntu installed and I never had this problem. I also realized that when I shut down the computer some errors related with the network appear in the screen.

When you receive those messages, it generally means your cable has become unplugged or the device on the other end of the cable has brought its interface down, or otherwise completely failed. You might try running an older version of Ubuntu via liveCD a few times, but I have to agree with the others here, it's most likely just burned out, timing being coincidental.
