View Full Version : [ubuntu] [SOLVED] My computer and Opera freezes with Hardy

May 3rd, 2008, 12:39 PM
Does anybody knows why Opera 9.5 Beta freezes with Hardy Heron? The 9.27 was very fast and stable with Gutsy but was not working with Hardy, so I had to move to 9.5 Beta. What can be done?
Also on Restart or Shut Down the whole computer freezes.
This also never happened with Gutsy. Is there anything that I missed at the Hardy installation?

I am running opera on x86_64 build of hardy and _NEVER_ expired any crash with the latest beta (I think it is somewhat opera_9.50b2-20080422.2-shared-qt_amd64.deb for x86_64, do no know about x86)
Do you have any clue what is it related to? Does it happen more often if you visit flash/java websites?

Which deb package did you install?

Which deb package did you install?

The one from the Opera website.
The problem is that it freezes almost every time I am visiting a website with lots of flash.
Could it be the machine problem? It's a 4 year old Athlon XP 2200+ with built in video, 256 RAM.
This was quite good for the "older" version of Opera.

Are you running on x86_64 or x86 ubuntu hardy heron? And did you donwload 32bit version of opera (I guess so)?

I am running the i386 ubuntu.
Opera was downloaded from the Opera website. It doesn't say if it's the 32 bit or what.
You just select the distro and the vendor, nothing else.

The opera wbsite exclusivly offers 32bit for download.
So, I am on 64 bit and I am going fine with the latest beta named 9.50b2.xxxx...x.deb
I am sorry, I have no clue what went wrong :-(
