Know this is going to sound stupid but is there anyway i could get to play audio files with Microsoft's <bgsound> tag in either Firefox or Konqueror?

possibly, depending on the actual format.
Firefox is quite diverse so with that you might have luck.
the formats should practically be a non issue as there are ways to get practically every format to work under linux one way or another.
