Disabling default animations (not compiz)

Is there any way to disable the minimizing animation when compiz fusion is not on (the many black boxes that appear)? To me, it doesn't look good and I'd rather it be gone than to be there, especially since it stays on the screen for half a second after it's minimized, which is also a pain.
