ok, ive done a search for this and all i have found is the mention of ppl being able to run vmware fusion on ubuntu and xp actually, but i havent found any guides in how to do it. I know that vmware workstation is made for linux and fusion is made for mac, but i figured since fusion works so well on mac that maybe you can run it on ubuntu 7.10 as an alternative to workstation. so my question is how do you installing fusion on ubuntu so i can run xp on ubuntu using fusion as my virtual emulator.

sorry if this has already been answered, just cant seem to find it myself, i appreciate any help or links you may have.

thanks

VMware is just a programme that provides a virtualized 386-style PC. The VMware programme is available for several OS'es and each of those versions has a different name. Fusion is name for the version of VMware that runs on Mac OS X; an no, Fusion won't run under Windows or GNU/Linux.

That said, each of the different versions of VMware provides an identical virtual PC on which you can install a whole slew of different OS'es suitable for the 386 (or Intel) processor -- any of the GNU/Linux alternatives, BSD-like Unices, Solaris. A VM made in one of the various VMware versions can be copied to any of the other versions; in fact, some of the competing Parallels VMs can also run in VMware.
