Hello!

I have a Canon Imagerunner 1023 printer that I cannot seem to get working. It gets autodetected as a "Canon iR1018/1022/1023 (UFRII LT)" but when it searches for drivers, it goes to "select printer from database." I select "Canon", but then it just gives me a huge list of the models, with nothing similar to 1023 among them. The only imagerunner drivers listed are "imageRunner 330s" which I tried, but when trying to print with those drivers, nothing happens. The job just goes to the queue briefly, then disappears.

Getting this printer to work is pretty important, i would appreciate any help given! :)

Thanks all!
Kerry

You might take a look at this site to see what there is, if anything, on your particular printer.

Did a bit of snooping around, and it appears that Canon uses proprietary drivers. You likely will need to go to their web site to see what's available under Linux.

Thanks avtolle! I went to Canon's web site and I found this:
http://it.software.canon-europe.com/software/0028391.asp?model=

(Not sure why it only shows up for the European site!)

Which seems to support similar models.
I will attempt to install it, and if it doesn't work, I am going to try this:
http://www.openprinting.org/test/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-iR1018

Which is a similar model printer.

Thanks for your help! :) Maybe for the next version of Ubuntu, if this model printer is detected, it could suggest to the user that they download the drivers from canon's site, or try the driver from openprinting.org
Do you know who I could suggest this idea to?

Hey, so I can't figure out the SQue driver.

I would like to install the open source driver here:
http://www.openprinting.org/test/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Canon-iR1018
But I cannot figure out how to do so. Can someone help? Thank you!

http://canonintl.codehost.com/ worked for me for Canon 5055/5065 printers.
