I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 alongside 7.10 on a Pentium P3, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive. After installing the RT2570 driver I was able to connect to the internet wirelessly, but have the problem of a jerky screen display.
The web page seems to load up slowly. There are "squares" left on the screen from a previous display as shown in the attached screen captures.
Is it that 8.04 will not run smoothly on this old computer?

The screen shot shows a Live CD, not an installation.

The screen shot shows a Live CD, not an installation.

The same effect is noticed on the live CD, but it has been installed onto the hard disk a few days ago,and the screen shot was taken a few minutes ago.

Thanks! System>Preference>Appearance>Visual Effect changed to " None" seems to have solved it.
