Hello.
I have a short question, should be quick to answer.
I use xubuntu 8.04, was messing around a little bit and now I would like to restore some system files.
Can some one tell me how to do this in general and in my case especially with the files in /etc/rc3.d
It would help me a lot. Couldn't find a really helpful post about this.
Thanks for now! Marco

If you have deleted files from there and don't recall the name to get them back. I would suggest you reinstall Xubuntu but just format and reinstall the root section, not your /home directory, leave that alone.

Another thing you can do is look at QuickStart. There is a link in my signature. It will backup and restore your /, /home and config files. It does more than that but you'll find out if you check it out.

Then if you want to play around testing things you can do a "manual" backup of those before you start, or rely on a "scheduled" backup.

Have a nice day.
