I am relatively new to serious audio production. I've gotten Garritan Personal Orchestra working in my regular Ubuntu desktop. However, I do not have a soundcard that is compatible with Jack. I have a Creative Labs Xfi soundcard, but so far I haven't gotten it to work with Ubuntu at all, so I'm using the "built in" soundcard right now. In addition, I only have 512 Megs of RAM, which is not enough to load a full orchestra (or even half an orchestra without serious hiccups)

I am ready to build a dedicated audio workstation, and I hope to use Ubuntu Studio. I know I need as much RAM as possible, but other than that, I'm lost.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a case, motherboard, processor, sound/video cards, and everything else I need?
