View Full Version : [ubuntu] Mac will not boot from Firewire CD Rom

My internal CD ROM drive on my first gen Macbook Pro is dead, so I am trying to install hardy from an external one. It has worked in the past, but this time it does not work. When I Hold down C, Select it from the Apple Boot loader, or rEFIt it just goes to my normal grub and boots up gutsy.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Alex

I can boot from usb combo drive - Power on, at the rEFIt menu, choose reboot, when rEFIt appears again the CD is bootable.
Or maybe you had a bad burn.

If you are trying to boot from the firewire disk and your computer is a G3 or a G4 PowerBook, there is a chance this might not work.

You can still boot from another Mac which have OS 8.6 and up.
