Video Capturing with Firewire and Editing

My sound card has a firewire port on it and my video camera supports firewire transfer. In Windows I use Nero to record the video, and I use Adobe Premier to edit it. What would you suggest I use to do this in Ubuntu? Also I need the editor to be able to burn the video as a DVD Movie.

Kino is easy for simple video editing. There are a host of options for burning to DVD, including building the iso in command line, which is fairly simple.

if you are used to premiere, then i would suggest cinelerra, it rocks.
there are some video tutorials around too, search for the_source tv show

to import the cam's media, use kino (im asuming you got a dv camera)

if you only need to chop some scenes off and mix it together, then i guess kino will do. for some extra video editing, i would use cinelerra
