VNC no longer renders openGL after 8.04

I've been using openGL to render video with VLC to eliminate pixilation caused by the usual lack of anti-aliasing, but since my upgrade I can't render video using openGL in VLC. However, mplayer renders things fine with openGL. Any ideas? (other than start using mplayer?)
