After having many wireless issues with Ubuntu 7.10, I was surprised that upon installing 8.04, wireless worked without any hassles :) I had been using an rt73 wlan usb stick, and when using Gutsy, I had to use terminal commands to start wireless networking (sudo dhclient wlan0 etc.)

This was fickle even at the best of times, sometimes taking up to 30mins to get working. However, after a fresh installation, the rt73 drivers I had installed had been replaced by much better ones - Wireless worked first time with no hassles! However, I was hoping i could use either network monitor to connect automatically at startup, but when I open network monitor and try to configure wlan0, it says "Interface does not exist", despite the fact that I am connected to the internet, and the output of 'sudo ifconfig wlan0' shows wlan0 as connected?
