I was wondering if it was possible yet to use a web page (not a screen shot) as your background under Gnome in Ubuntu 8.04?

I know it is possible in KDE, I am just wondering about Gnome as it does happen to be the default.

I did a search and found a thread from 2005 that indicated you could mess with some settings regarding KDE to kinda get this working but I was wondering if there has been any work done on this since then?

There is a long thread here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=297027&page=3
from 2007. They get it working but it takes a while and involves linked tutorials. I know of no easy way to do what you want to do.
