G'day All,

Just updated from Gutsy to Hardy and want to try out Rhythmbox.

Rhythmbox itself works until I connect my Sansa E280. Then the Sansa cannot mount and Rhythmbox gets baulky.

Having bypassed this problem in Gutsy by uninstalling Rhythmbox and trying out Banshee, Exaile, and Amarok - which all worked without causing problems with the Sansa, but lack some functionality or capability that I'd hoped for. So, I'd like to tryout Rhythmbox, but as mentioned, it is preventing my Sansa from mounting.
Can anyone advise me on if and how I can get my Sansa E280 to mount while Rhythmbox is installed?

cheers,
Phil

Somewhere in my trolling I came across a comment about disabling the MTP plugin to allow my Sansa E280 to connect. I'm sorry I've misplaced the reference, but whoever you are, thankyou!
To clarify:
My Sansa would mount correctly if Rhythmbox was not installed.
With my Sansa in MSC mode and the MTP plugin selected in Rhythmbox, my Sansa would fail to mount (Rhythmbox need not be running, just installed...).
Two ways to fix:
1. Set the Sansa to MTP and select the MTP plugin in Rhythmbox. The Sansa no longer mounts as a device, but Rhythmbox now sees it. But, I have a uSD card in my Sansa and this is neither visible nor accessible in this mode.
2. Deselect the MTP plugin in Rhythmbox and set the Sansa to MSC. The Sansa mounts correctly as two devices allowing access to the uSD card as well as the main memory, and Rhythmbox sees both devices as well.

Hope this helps someone out.
Cheers,
Phil

It helped me out, Phil--I was pretty bummed out by the same problem. Many thanks.

Thanks, this also solved my Sansa connectivity problem.
