So it seems that whenever I play sound on rhythmbox it works fine, but then whenever I try to watch youtube videos or any other videos the sound doesn't work on that. I have to restart my computer. When I restart my computer, I try the videos. The sound works fine, but now rhythmbox won't play music (actually the track bar won't even move).

I am considering downgrading if I can't find a solution to this because it is a huge pain in the *** to restart my computer everytime I want to listen to music/watch a video (switch between the two).

I'm having the exact same problem. Not a clue how to fix it. I thought I was being all clever and sorting it out using pulseaudio, but sadly not. If anyone can suggest a fix I'd be grateful, as I can confirm what a pain in the neck this is!

Actually I found a solution... I don't know if it's a permanent solution, but it worked at least for now. System>Preferences>Sounds>Devices
I switched all of the "sound playback" options to STAC92xx Analog and they both seem to work now. Not exactly userfriendly though.

Hmm... I don't seem to have that option. Anybody else got another idea?

Edit: Have stumbled across a fix it appears. Don't know what it is, but I've just reinstalled the JRE, which is the only change I've made today, so it might be that I guess.
