Hello,

I could see in the aptitude that there is a package for ATI but couldn't understand how to enable it. I could not get any of the 3d stuff working. I am not even able to run any of the open gl stuff.

I am using

Ubuntu Hardy (8.04)
graphics accelerator : ATI Mobility Radeon™ X2300
Dedicated Video Memory 128MB

The complete config of my lappy is here:
http://www.sony.co.in/product/vgn-cr35g?site=hp_en_IN_i

any clues ?

Try the restricted drivers manager (System --> Administration --> Restricted Drivers Manager).
It should detect which card you have and give you the option to enable it.

Thanks! that works! I just tested it with the OpenGL screensavers!

Cheers,
