Evening all,
My machine is a Dell Inspiron E1505, and I'm having issues in regards to mp3 playback regardless of app used to play them. Whenever i try to play an mp3 file the app i use (Amarok or Movie Player) will freeze. Mp3 playback worked fine in Gutsy but since updating it does not.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

did you make sure to install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package for movieplayer and the kubuntu-restricted-extras package for amarok?

Worked perfectly - thanks. But I did have to do a restart before the MP3s would play.

I'm having a similar problem. Sometimes my mp3s freeze so I do a reboot, and then everything works fine. This seems to happen about once a day. What could be causing this? I use Amarok and Banshee and I have the same problem with both.

Actually, I noticed this happens every time after I first close Banshee Player and then the next time I use Banshee Player, the MP3s won't play until I reboot Linux.

i dont get mp3 playback in hardy at all. this is a fresh install with gstreamer0.10-* and w32codecs from medibuntu. it still refuses to playback mp3s. has anyone found a solution to this ? i even installed the pulseaudio tools from the hardy ubuntuguide, after doing that it played, but shortly afterwards, it ceased playback and hasn't returned. no playback after reboot either.
anyone found a solution ?
