I just started using thoggen dvd ripper to load the planet earth series on my hard drive for travel, the episodes are about an hour long. I started ripping the dvds with the maximum quality (62) but the file sizes are enormous about 2.2 gig per hour of video. Thoggen offers two choices on compression: quality (a number) and final file size. I would like to increase the compression of the video, but im not sure what settings would give me high quality video and smaller file sizes. I realize this is highly subjective, but what are your recommendations? Additionally, will the video rip significantly slower with more compression?
