I am getting ready to buy the parts for my new rig and i was wondering if anyone has had any success with the Creative Xfi platinum sound card. I have an audigy 2 zs on my current computer and the sound is significantly better than in ustudio704. Im assuming that this is a driver issue. Are there any drivers out for the the xfi that are near par to the windows ones?

I'm planning on running xp 64 bit for gaming and UStudio 8.04 as my main desktop system. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a different sound card or a way to get drivers for the xfi?

thanks!

To the best of my knowledge X-Fi cards are still not linux friendly. My info is based on the fact that I have a couple in different machines and none of them, yet, work with linux.
I suggest you get, either, a Diamondtek 5.1 or 7.1 soundcard. they are inexpensive with decent sound and are linux friendly. They even ship with Audacity an open source program for sound and music work. They run around $20-$25 for the 5.1 and about $35 for the 7.1.
You can also move your speaker plug from the X-fi card in Windows to your motherboards sound jack for linux sound. I have two machines that I can do that with. It's bothersome but it works.

Good luck!

There are XFI drivers. Search for "XFI" on forums.
