First time ubutnu user, longtime linux hater until the recent convert to 8.04, loving it with foot in mouth.
Long story short, went on my journey to get compiz running, it works. You are probably suspecting that I have been having the same problem as every other ATI user on the block:
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (2.1 Mesa 7.0.3)
Which has, as you know, significantly dropped my laptop performance with these wonderful effects!
I have lurked around a bit, but I am getting quite lost amongst random ATI threads that were not particular to my laptop and hardware. Without further ado:
Graphics controller ATI IGP 320M Graphics with 64 MB of shared video memory
How can I have it use this (non)beast of a graphics card?
