I have a DVD with some old home movies on it that I need to copy for my family. I have a laptop running Ubuntu 7.10 with a DVD-R drive.

What would be the easiest way to make this copy? I have DVD Rip and programs like that, but I don't really know what to do with the resulting files. I just want something simple and quick.

if you are planning on re-burning this, you should just create a .iso image with gnome-baker or brasero. If you are archiving it, you should use k9copy or dvd95. If you want a video file like an .avi, .mpg or .ogg, use dvdrip or acidrip
