Hi all,

I've used Ubuntu for a while then I got a new computer with Windows installed on it. Well, I can't take it anymore so I want to install Ubuntu on this computer.

My hard disk has 2 partitions (both NTFS if it matters) with Windows installed on the C:

My question is "If I tried installing Ubuntu can I use the free space on my other partition? - I expect the answer is yes - But my real question is: Will I use my existing files on that partition??"

Thanks a lot

If you use Vista; you have to make 'unallocated' free space for Ubuntu first. With XP; you can 'shrink' it with Gparted Live CD:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
Burn to disk and boot from it.
