Hello, i noticed some odd behavior today and i was wondering what might be the cause. I have compiz and all the associated desktop effects working just fine, but when i do a glxinfo | grep direct it says direct rendering: no and that i'm using the mesa driver (the restricted drivers manager on the otherhand says that i'm using the ATI one).
The only slowness that i experience is when playing videos. They almost always pin the CPU near 100%
can anyone explain how direct rendering could be off and i could still have compiz working smoothly? and also a way to improve video playback performance
