Hello, my Inspiron 1520 is having some issues with the live CD of ubuntu. I can boot off the cd, get to the menu, and it starts to load. But then after a couple minutes it returns this error:

BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-3ubuntu3)Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of commands.
/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off
(initranfs)_

I'm using 7.04 Feisty

Computer Build (if it helps):
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz
256MG Nvidia Geofrece 8600m GT
2GB DDR2 RAM
120GB Hard drive

It sounds like you may not have fully downloaded or correctly burned the iso to a cd

I have exactly the same problem, but I got the Canonical Live CD and it worked perfectly on my other laptop.

if the live disk previously worked try a different CD drive
they wear out over time.
