ok , 2 questions.

1st... is there any particular way or package , or whatever,
that id just want to turn this computer into a server to act as a wireless access point .
straight forward - no passwords, blocking , etc.
id like to set it up so that if your computer sees the connection, it can log on automatically.
no encryption of any kind. even full access to hack the computer if wanted.
no security at all.
theres no information on the computer , its just going to be an access point.

2nd...ive been reading some of the posts, but why do i keep seeing answers about using windows drivers ???
if windows is bad, arent the drivers bad too?

An access point is a device used to relay a wireless signal to another device, usually a router. I don't see why you would like to use a PC as an access point...

Are you by any chance using the wrong terminology?

probably am...

all i want is straight forward basic once ive torn this thing apart.
bare nessecities.
id like it to sit in a different room without running a cable to it for internet.

id like cheapest , easiest wireless card unbuntu supports without a hassle.

if it cant be done, a computer has to be attached to my cable modem in order for my wifi signal to be sent out.

seems dumb, but ive tried disconnecting from computer before, as soon as i do , i lose wifi to my other computers.
