How do I thank someone for their help in a post other than within another post. I noticed that there are logged thank you's under someone's name so I am guessing there is a way to thank them officially?

Bottom right of the post in question, there is a little star on a blue ribbon. Just hit that button :)

Thank you both! I noticed the little ribbon deal on some posters responses, but not all of them? I do appreciate you letting me know so that I can log those that have helped me so much.
