I was just wondering if there would be any difference if I bought a used vista inspiron vs buying like a inspiron 1525n. If I downloaded and installed the dell ubuntu iso and put that on a 1525 or 1420 laptop would there be any major difference with components not working. I really do not think so, but thought i would ask.

The Dell iso files are designed specifically for those computers. The 1420N Nvidia iso can also be used on a 1520 supposedly. You will want to be careful as the image could delete your Vista partition. Read through some of the posts about dual booting with Media Direct (if you want to keep it) before adding Ubuntu. Also be sure to post how it went their are other people here who are curious. Good luck and enjoy Ubuntu

i mean you can get an ispiron 1525 that has pretty much the same components as the 1525n. It would seem like you should be able to get the same results with the dell ubuntu iso
