how to change size of preview icons which appear on desktop?

Is there any way to change the size of preview icons which appear on the desktop?

for example I have several links to PDF files on my desktop and they have really big icons, I want to make them smaller, is it possible?

Right click the file and choose "stretch icon." Adjust it however you like.
