Need Help With X-fi Plat Driver!!! 8.04

Anyone have any success with the soundblaster drivers for x64? heres the code from my terminal

This is what i followed to install it:

Install dependencies:

sudo apt-get install build-essential

Download the driver to your desktop: http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/

Move into the directory

There is an entire thread on how to install the Creative Labs X-Fi driver:http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=571656 in which many people had your same error. I worked past those errors, but when it finally installs, your system will crash when the X-server starts. Bottom line is that it doesn't work, use OSS. See post #1. No sound from the front-panel headphone jack, but the audio quality is fine.

i followed that thread..though i didnt do the OSS driver...ill do that when i get back from work and let you know what happend. Thanks!

I actually had my sound working fine with these drivers w/ ExtremeGamer on gutsy, but then I installed some packages and they stopped working. My restricted drivers manager reads CTALSA, 4 X EMUPIA, HAXFI, OSSRV AND SFMAN, all In Use, but when i test my sound i get:

audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink profile=music: Could not open resource for writing.

I had it working and I'm not sure what I did, how can I find an error log for this one?

Update:

I got these drivers working by installing the OSS Drivers in X64...though its just a basic driver the sound does work.
