To the bluetooth gurus out there!

I have been using a motorola 500 headset with my 7.10 32bit laptop skype using a program called gbtsco (I can send a link to the website if you want me to.) The program is basically a gui and with a click of a button you have bt working.

I installed 8.04 64bit on my desktop today and installed gbtsco like I did on my laptop. I turn it on and it sees my headset but when I click the connect button it loads for a few seconds and then thats it. Normally on my laptop, the 'connect' button becomes 'disconnect' when it has paired successfully. However, the 'connect' button remains the 'connect' button. Further more skype sees the bt headset but it wont work.

My question is: Is this a 8.04 problem or a 64 bit problem. I did read that people had success with 7.10 64 so I'm thinking it is a 8.04 problem.

Now for the gurus- how do I make the headset work? I have searched and searched and all I find are old 'how to' that seem out dated.

Can anyone please help me?

I'm desperate! Mods- I don't know if I can do this, but to entice anyone to help me getting my bluetooth working under 8.04 and enriching the ubuntu community, I will pay the first person to help med 5usd via paypal. I don't think I am breaking any forum rules but if I did, I'm sorry and it won't happen again.

Or if you prefer, donate to the ubuntuforums.org website :)

Alright guys-

I think the problem is that the bluetooth headset is paired with my computer and it locks everything else.

I went back to my laptop and my laptop sees the device but it has a little key lock next to it. I won't pair in the laptop

I was trying to get to work on my desktop and I think I paired it and now have no clue on how to unpair it. There are so many different ways to get your bluetooth to work that I think I haver 2 ways conflicting.

If anyone can help me unpair the phone (motorola 500) than I can see if gbtsco works.

Please, someone help :)

I played around with the desktop and removed all pairing. Now it works on the 7.10 laptop phew!

I am reinstalled 7.10 64 on the desktop to see if the problem was with 8.04 or not. Maybe there was something wrong with the new pulse audio? I don't know. Anyway, we need, as a community, standardized how to's and help for each version for stuff like bluetooth headset and what not.

I'm sure by reading and doing many different approaches I have in effect caused some sort of conflicts that have prevented me from getting the headset to work.

I am, retracting my 5$ offer since nobody not even tried to push me in the right direction. However, if a solution does come up, I am still going to donate to ubuntuforums.org

If I get the headset working under 7.10, then that means there was a problem with 8.04. I will keep you guys informed :)

After searching all day I came up with this

http://wiki.bluez.org/wiki/HOWTO/AudioDevices

I tried it and I am still doing something wrong. Apparently 8.04 btsco is obsolete so everything that I was trying involving btsco wouldn't work. I want to stay with hardy but until the bt headset problem is resolved, I am reinstalling gusty.
