Hi,

I upgraded to hardy and had a few problems so decided to do a clean install. Now I've got some real problems.

Both the livecd and the os when first installed output video that has a very visible green overlay. Then I installed the ati driver through the Hardware Drivers selection in the System menu. When I restarted I had no video. My monitor did showed a black screen and a box floating around that said it couldn't sense any video input.

At the same time I heard the opening sound. And if I blindly type my user name and password, I hear the login sound as well. So I guess the OS is working otherwise. Can I fix this through an edit of my xorg?

Below is a copy. There is no section where resolutions are defined. That's supposed to be there right?

Anyway... what do you think?

So... Reinstalled gutsy and I've copied my xorg down below. Do you think that I can just copy this file somewhere, install hardy, then replace hardy's version and I should be okay?

Just in case anybody else has the same problem. I tried what I said I would in the previous post (copied a working version of the xorg.conf from gutsy and then, once the proprietary ati driver was installed, copied the gutsy version of the xorg file into the correct location) and now I have what looks to be a fully functioning, video outputting, version of hardy.

I don't know about anything else, but the green problem seems to be a problem across linux systems. Just installed fedora 9 and having the same problem with the green overlay. grrr.
