I attempted the upgrade to 8.04 last night. Everything was going OK until right at the end of the package installation phase, I got a bunch of error messages ending with "your system may be unusable." The upgrade manager then terminated, before performing the cleanup or restart phases. Now I'm terrified to reboot. Any suggestions?
TIA,
- Bill

I'm in the same situation:
Inspiron 1420n, originally 7.04. Added Kubuntu-desktop, upgraded to 7.10.
Last night, attempted to dist-upgrade to 8.04, and had the same experience as OP.
Most critically, upon reboot, my network adapters would not enable. I have noticed that I cannot get into any GNOME application (e.g. Gnome Network Admin) that requires SUDO - though I do not have this problem with KDE applications.
Firefox 2.x will launch, but Firefox 3 will not.
Various other problems and oddities (due to kludged upgrade).
I have just finished downloading the Kubuntu 8.04 ISO torrent, and will try a clean instal tonight - unless anyone has any ideas for fixing my existing upgrade attempt?
