-8.04 ubuntu, xubuntu
-LG cd-writer
-maxtor HDD (where it's to be installed)
-seaget HDD (windows)
-ECS 651-M mainboard
-256 RAM, sucked a bit by sound and graphics.

I get to GRUB and language selection. selected install and loading comes up.
it takes a while, since it's not an uber new PC, but then after a while I get various I/O errors.

it's probably not my CD-rom since I just installed Sabayon a couple of days ago to test drive it and compare. And just played a couple of games that needs a CD on the cd-rom to run.

check the CD for errors, the one on GRUB and it says I have no errors on my installation.

was gonna try to install it within windows but it seems it won't allow me to install due to RAM amount.

gonna take a screeny tomorrow, maybe I'll snap a pic with a camera or something...
will also try to run the liveCD then install.

With that RAM you cannot boot a Live CD. Your best bet is Xubuntu 8.04 Alternate CD

strange... I'm able to boot with 7.10 k/x/ubuntu liveCDs.
I'll try the alternates then, I don't really need the preview... but I'll post those screenies tomorrow too, just in case.

tried both xubuntu and ubuntu earlier. LiveCD and direct install. spews out the same error message.

checked again for defects xubuntu is ok while ubuntu had one error but this is more like from a small scratch due to the CD flying from my hand with such force *wink wink*

I'll try and have a look see tomorrow with alternate CDs...
