Hey all, I've been using Hardy 64 for a while now, and I've been with compiz and fglrx for quite some time trying to get rid of the flickering that happens whenever running a 3D app... I could have sword that it was fixed briefly a little while ago, but then a compiz update re-flickerized it.

Now that Hardy is officially released, I figure I'd ask, has anyone found a solution other than disabling compiz and using metacity for getting rid of that annoying flickering?

On another note, if there's anyone that catches this, are there any options I should add/change in my xorg.conf to maximize performance?

I'm using ATI's 2900XT (512 MB) with 4GB of RAM and an Intel Q6600.

Here's my xorg.conf

# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Suggest you read this (http://forum.compiz-fusion.org/showthread.php?t=6794)

Changing some values in ccsm>General Options>Display settings, might help too. Otherwise, let's hope ATI gets (a lot) better:)

Cool, I'll edit my xorg.conf accordingly

I actually found a solution for getting fullscreen 3d apps to not flicker, simply go to ccsm and turn on undirect fullscreen windows in general options.

Nice easy fix.
